Get to Know Us
Troop 1485 is one of the first (and largest!) all-girl, BSA troops to form in Northern Maryland. Our Troop was created in 2019 to serve girls and young women ages 11 to 17 in the Hereford area. We are a group of 30 girls who love to have fun together while experiencing the great outdoors and learning real-world skills !
Our Troop loves an adventure! So far, we have biked sections of the NCR Trail, hiked part of the Appalachian Trail, gone whitewater rafting in Western Maryland and spent a week training and canoeing in the Adirondacks, NY. Our Troop also goes on regular camping outings throughout the year and attends a week-long summer camp.
BSA (formerly known as the Boy Scouts of America) offers a proven, structured program that teaches scouts practical life skills. During our first three years as a troop, we have worked together to master the basics of camping, canoeing, kayaking, biking, hiking, knots and lashes, fire building, wood carving, cooking and so much more! We have also built our confidence, self esteem and leadership skills along the way! Many girls in Troop 1485 have embraced leadership positions and several girls are working hard to earn their Eagle Scout rank!

Troop 1485 believes in empowering young women to become leaders and make a difference in the world. We provide opportunities for girls to develop outdoor skills, leadership abilities, and community service experience. We are a troop that values diversity, inclusivity, and teamwork.
